Three people are dead after a small plane crashed in a field near Mangum, Oklahoma in Greer County, Saturday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has confirmed that the Beechcraft Baron aircraft crashed west of State Highway 34, near county road 1390 at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses report the fixed-wing twin engine plane appeared to be having engine trouble before it went down, OHP reports.

Dead are the pilot, 53-year-old Stephen Scott of Magnum; passengers John Hall, 45, and Edi Ortega, 20. Both passengers were Altus residents.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
