The Mid-America Christian University Evangels climbed into the No. 10 spot in the latest National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Basketball rankings this week.

The Evangels have won three of their last four games overall, including a 93-84 victory at then No. 9-ranked Rogers State University (NAIA) on Jan. 5. MACU also knocked off Lubbock Christian University 65-63 last Saturday (Jan. 10) in Lubbock, Texas.

The duo of senior guard Charlie Shorter and junior forward Angelo Lewis have paced the Evangels this season. Shorter is second in the SAC in scoring at 21.6 ppg, while Lewis ranks second in the league at 15.2 ppg and is second in the conference with 2.3 steals a game. Lewis also leads the SAC in field-goal percentage (.647) and is third in rebounding (7.7 rpg). Senior point guard Camilo Valencia is also tied for sixth in the league in assists (3.4 apg).

The Evangels will try to keep rolling in their conference home opener tonight (Jan. 17) against St. Gregory's University. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center. MACU has won nine of 10 meetings against SGU since joining the NAIA in 2007.
