No New Flu Deaths In Oklahoma, But More People Hospitalized

The latest report from the Oklahoma State Department of Health shows the number of people who've died from the flu this season in Oklahoma remains at eight, but the number of hospitalizations from the illness has jumped.

Since the flu season began September 30, 2012, 484 people have been hospitalized with the flu; that's up from 345 hospitalizations last week. The most number of hospitalized flu patients, 162, occurred in Tulsa County. Oklahoma County has had 62 flu-related hospitalizations.

Tulsa County also has the most number of flu-related deaths, with three. Creek, Mayes, Muskogee, Pittsburg, and Rogers counties have one death each. The names of those who've died have not been released, but the latest report reveals four were between the ages of 19 and 64, and four were over the age of 65.
