OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City Police are searching for a suspected rapist after a woman reported to authorities that the man attacked her in her home over the weekend while she was sleeping.

News 9 does not identify victims of sexual assault, but the victim spoke exclusively to News 9 Crime Tracker Adrianna Iwasinski because both she and her neighbors want the rapist caught before he has the opportunity to strike again.

"I turned over for some reason," said the 62-year-old woman. "And he was crouched down beside my bed."

The attack happened in the quiet Crestwood neighborhood in the 2800 block of N.W. 21st Street. Police have been going door-to-door with a composite sketch of the suspect, warning residents about the attack and telling them to lock their doors. News 9 also shared the sketch with neighbors we met.

"That is so awful," said Tedrick Allen, who lives across the street. "I am so sorry to hear that. That's just awful!"

"We have a pretty good neighborhood awareness," said Beth Minster, another neighbor. "I know most of my neighbors. My neighbors know me. However, this doesn't always protect you from this sort of thing."

The victim says she fought her attacker, but he fought back.

"It made him mad that I hurt him and he said if [I hit him] again, he said he would kill me or hurt me worse."

The woman who was attacked tells News 9 her rapist did not take anything from her home. She is urging everyone in the area to lock their doors, arm their alarms, and be wary of anything or anyone acting suspicious.

Police are urging anyone with any information about the rape or the identity of the suspect to call Crime Stoppers.
