Oklahoma City firefighters rushed to N.W. 33rd Street and Classen to stop a large fire from spreading from a garage apartment to neighboring homes.
Residents spotted the fire at the two-story structure around 11 p.m. Tuesday and called 911. Firefighters arrived to the 1400 block of N.W. 33rd Street within minutes, but the flames were so intense they had to go into defensive mode and fight the fire from outside the building.
It took crews about an hour to douse the fire. Firefighters don't know what sparked the fire in the detached garage apartment. Neighbors say it had been empty for years.
