A woman accused of murdering her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A woman accused of murdering her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The family of the victim says on Tuesday, a judge sentenced Marilee Smotherman to 30 years. This comes after she unexpectedly changed her plea last week.

Marilee Smotherman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and desecration of a corpse in the killing of Veronica Carlson.

The second suspect, Roger Gober, goes to court next month.

Veronica Carlson was stabbed to death in October 2011. Her body was found in a shallow grave in Seminole County.
