An Arctic cold front swept through Oklahoma early Saturday morning giving us frigid north winds on this Saturday. Expect falling temperatures throughout the day with wind chills in the 20s and teens, then eventually single digits by early Sunday.

The cold front combined with an upper level storm system, will give us scattered showers for the first part of the day. As below freezing temperatures are ushered in, expect rain to change over to freezing rain, quickly to sleet and then snow.

The ground is still quite warm, but slick spots may occur. We could see light accumulations, especially in north central Oklahoma where around an inch of sleet/snow is possible. Localize areas along the OK/KS border could see slightly higher amounts.

Precipitation will end late Saturday night as the storm system moves to the east. It will leave behind very cold conditions for the remainder of the weekend and the first part of next week.

The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory for central Oklahoma, and the snow, sleet and freezing rain may also spread to the eastern part of the state.

Snow and sleet accumulations of between 1 and 3 inches are forecast for central and northeast Oklahoma. Freezing rain of up to a tenth of an inch is also possible.

Officials say roadways will become slick from the wintery precipitation and that bridges and overpasses will become particularly dangerous.

Saturday night low temperatures in central Oklahoma are forecast to be around 20 degrees and in the teens by Sunday night.
