OKLAHOMA CITY -

When the house burst into flames, several neighbors witnessed the explosion or felt it. And many of them are telling News 9 they are still in disbelief.

The explosion not only shook everyone up, but damaged several homes nearby. So neighbors spent the day patching up windows and doors to make their homes livable again.

The homes closest to the blast suffered a lot of structural damage, so much so contractors began stabilizing the houses to allow homeowners to collect their belongings.

Windows and doors were blown out, and for Marcie White who lives right next door, a wall of her house actually shifted several inches with her son still inside. When they made it to safety, they were more worried about their neighbor than their house.

"We [were] really concerned yesterday as the fire was going on and everything, because we were like, ‘There is no way she could have survived it.' And when we saw her…taken into the ambulance we were relieved she was fine, because she lives there by herself. So we were just thankful she was okay," said White.

Many of the neighbors shared similar stories of looking out for one another in the seconds following the explosion. One neighbor actually went in and helped pull the homeowner to safety.
