OKLAHOMA CITY -
Merchants along the 23rd Street Corridor in Oklahoma
City say the area is primed to make a big comeback.
The streets around the old Tower Theater building used to be one
of Oklahoma City's main centers of commerce in the 1950's. The area died
out in the 1980's, but in recent years a growing number of restaurants and new
businesses have been moving in.
Jennifer Seal and her husband recently opened Grandad's Bar a few
blocks west of the old Tower Theater.
"There's a real nostalgia for the area," she said. "We're going to
recapture some of that glory."
As for the Old Tower Theater building, Seal says the
building's owners are actively trying to sell it to someone who's interested in
participating in this Uptown 23rd Revitalization plan.
