OKLAHOMA CITY -

The first baby of 2013 born at OU Medical Center is the daughter of an OU-ICU nurse who worked until last week.

The healthy baby girl is named Ella Jean Dawley. Ella Jean wasn't supposed to be here until January 6, but her mother went into labor New Year's Eve.

Ella was born at 12:59 a.m. Tuesday, and weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces.

"It seems like a cool birthday. You always have a good time, a good party to go to. I think she is getting off to a good start," Ella's mother, Bri Dawley, said.

The family got a gift bag of goodies from the hospital staff, including a $100 gift card from Kohl's and a car seat from Safe Kids.

Both mom and baby are doing well.
