Tulsa County Records Oklahoma's First Influenza Death This Season

According to data released Thursday morning by the Oklahoma Department of Health, the Tulsa County death occurred sometime between December 19th and Christmas Day.

The state of Oklahoma's first influenza death this season is in Tulsa County. According to data released Thursday morning by the Oklahoma Department of Health, the Tulsa County death occurred sometime between December 19th and Christmas Day. 

The data does not say if the death was a male or female but says it was someone between the ages of 19 and 64.

The state has seen 75 hospitalized cases of flu since September 30, 2012. Twenty-one of those cases were reported December 19-25th.

OSDH data shows since September 30th, Tulsa County has had 24 people admitted to the hospital because of influenza. Oklahoma County has had 10 cases.

Adair, Latimer, Muskogee and Wagoner counties have each had 1 case of someone in the hospital because of the flu. Cherokee, Okmulgee, Osage and Rogers counties have each had two cases and Creek County has had three cases since the end of September.

The state health department issues a weekly report on influenza cases in Oklahoma every Thursday.
