Police arrested two men in Edmond Thursday night after firefighters found explosive devices at an apartment complex.

Police arrested two men in Edmond Thursday night after firefighters found explosive devices at an apartment complex.

An apartment manager and residents heard a loud boom at Christopher Place Apartments at 101 N. Boulevard. When they saw smoke pouring from an apartment, they called 911.

Firefighters arrived and quickly determined there were explosives in the unit. Crews backed out, and police called in the Edmond Bomb Squad.

When the bomb squad arrived, they found several improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and some of them were live. Investigators believe someone was working on a device when it accidentally exploded.

Casey Richard Hampton, 18, lived in the apartment. Police arrested him for allegedly making explosive devices. They also arrested another man at the scene, 21-year-old and Hillrey Ray Young.
