Will Rogers World Airport (WRWA) in Oklahoma City is urging travelers to prepare themselves for some very busy travel days this week by following some simple rules to help ensure their trips will run smoothly.

WRWA estimates 80,000 passengers will pass through the airport this week, with Thursday and Friday being the busiest days. The airlines are also predicting full flights. An airport spokesperson says the TSA, airlines, and vendors have adjusted staffing and operating hours to handle the travel spike.

The airport is also asking passengers to make some adjustments this holiday season. Here are a just a few things travelers can do to make their trip easier:

Allow enough time to pass through the security checkpoint, and be prepared. Make sure your carry-on does not contain prohibited items. That will greatly streamline the amount of time it takes to pass through screening. An excellent guide for What Can Fly, can be found at http://www.tsa.gov/.

The TSA, airlines and airport always advise that travelers arrive at the terminal an hour-and-a-half before departure.

The hourly parking at WRWA is temporarily relocated due to improvements being done on the two-story parking garage. The location can be found by following the bright yellow overhead roadway signs. The temporary location is only on the first flour, the remaining spaces in both five-story garages are available for long-term parking. Long-term parkers enter at the second garage entrance. It is important to pay attention to the posted rates as parking long-term in the short-term area will result in a more expensive parking bill.

The airport would like to remind those that are picking up friends and family, that there is no parking or waiting at the terminal curbside. Visitors should utilize the hourly-parking or the cell-phone waiting areas. If using the cell-phone waiting area, do not move to the terminal area until the person being picked up is at the curbside.

To check the status of your flight before heading to the airport, visit flyokc.com, flyokc.com/mobile, or download the FlyOKC App for iPhone and iPad.
