The Midwest City Police Department says a police officer was justified when he shot and killed a man carrying two weapons.

Police officer Jeremy Zuniga shot and killed 42-year-old Bryan Don Scott on December 3 outside a home in the 600 block of Lions Park Place. The homeowner called police that morning to report an explosion in her garage. She said Scott, a family friend, was in her yard carrying a gun and "acting crazy."

Police say when Officer Zuniga arrived at the scene, Scott exited the garage carrying a machete and a rifle. When Officer Zuniga ordered him to drop the weapons, Scott refused. Zuniga then opened fire, shooting and killing Scott. The police department determined the shooting was justified and Zuniga acted in self-defense.

Police say the shooting was recorded by a dashboard camera in Zuniga's patrol car. Police will release that video. They say it "underlines the courage and bravery exhibited by Officer Zuniga during a deadly situation." Police also plan to release the initial 911 call that brought Officer Zuniga to the house.
