NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Suspended OU cornerback Joe Powell is facing felony drug charges in Cleveland County.

Jake Trotter with ESPN's SoonerNation reports the 21-year-old Powell is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18 for charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to reports, authorities connected Powell to the drugs after they intercepted a FedEx package from California containing four pounds of "high grade" marijuana. He was formally charged back in October.

Trotter reports Powell was suspended from the team in October.
