McCLAIN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

The man accused of firing shotgun rounds into his neighbor's house, triggering a standoff on Wednesday, says he can't remember it.

A police report shows the suspect told officers on scene that he was sleeping all day and had no idea about the shooting. Thursday night he is in jail facing a felony charge.

Broken windows and dents in the garage door, the house sprayed with shotgun pellets; witnesses say the man living across the street, Jeremy Nelson, fired at least one round out his front window at a neighbor's house.

Just a block away, Westfield Elementary went on lockdown after the shooting. Police finally made contact with the suspect inside and he came out unarmed.

Police records show Nelson allowed officers to search his home. Inside they recovered a 20-Gauge shotgun as well as several empty shells. Officers arrested Nelson at the scene and booked him into the Oklahoma County Jail, but Nelson told officers he had been sleeping since 10 a.m. and did not wake up until the police called him.

News 9 tried contacting Nelson's family, but nobody was home Thursday afternoon. Nelson faces charges of felony discharge of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place.

Several houses on the block were evacuated, but nobody was injured in the shooting. It's unclear if the suspect was actually asleep when he fired the weapon.
