My 2 Cents: Ticket City Bowl

Last New Year's Day we were in Dallas, and it just so happened my buddy, a Texas Tech grad, had an extra ticket to the Ticket City Bowl.

I'd never heard of the Ticket City Bowl, but we headed over to the Cotton Bowl Stadium where it was to be played, and quickly found a good parking place.

Too quickly.

It soon dawned on me that nobody was there.

This game was in the Cotton Bowl... the OU-Texas, 92-thousand seat capacity, State Fair of Texas Cotton Bowl.

I don't think there were 15,000 fans there, a lot of Texas High School teams would have been embarrassed by that crowd.

This is the bowl game a pretty good Oklahoma State team, 4th in the Big 12, is going to.. how'd that happen?

By the way, it's been renamed the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

And my heart sank when I heard that was the Pokes bowl destination... how do you get excited about that?

An OSU lawn decoration in the neighborhood ironically summed up my mood on getting the news this morning.

I was also disappointed for the Sooners being unduly bumped out of a BCS bowl as well, but at least the Sooners will be playing in the real Cotton Bowl in what should be one of the best bowl games of the season.
