EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A driver makes a gruesome discovery along I-35 near Edmond.

Around 4 a.m. Saturday, police say a driver traveling northbound on I-35 saw a body lying on the side of the road and called 911.

"It's not very common that we have bodies on the side of the road," said Jennifer Monroe with the Edmond Police Department.

But that's exactly what the driver told dispatchers he saw on I-35. Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Edmond police responded to Mile Marker 143 between Danforth Road and Covell Road. It was there, where they in fact, saw a deceased Hispanic man lying in the shoulder of the highway.

It's the only identification investigators have to go on. What they do know though, is the death is suspicious.

"Our detectives have determined that this is a homicide and are investigating it as a homicide," Monroe said.

The body is now in the hands of the medical examiner's office where an official cause of death will be determined. This marks Edmond's third homicide of the year.
