A wedding ring was stolen off the finger of an elderly St. Anthony's patient. Now the family wants the hospital's help to find the thief.
St. Anthony advises everyone to leave valuables at home and requires all patients to sign a waiver so the hospital isn't held liable.
The stolen ring is about three quarter of an inch thick. It is solid gold and is inscribed, "TE AMO GAUPO," which reads "I love you handsome one."
The stepdaughter of the elderly man believes a staff member stole the ring. Her mother gave it to her stepfather 13 years ago on their wedding day.
"It is ghoulish. I don't care what their motivation is. I don't care if they can't feed their family. That is not my problem and my stepfather should not be victimized," said Hattie Santore.
St. Anthony Hospital released a statement, which in part said,
"We contacted our security department and investigated the loss...we proactively contacted the police to come to the hospital to take a report."
The family is willing to pay a reward for the return of the ring no questions. Meanwhile the hospital is working with local police on the case.
