NORMAN, Oklahoma -

A manual recount began Thursday morning after a Cleveland County judge ordered it in the extremely close race for State House District 45 in Norman.

The judge ruled the ballots would be counted at the Cleveland County Courthouse. The process could take up to seven hours.

The race is razor-thin between Republican incumbent Aaron Stiles and Democrat Paula Roberts.

The morning after the November 6 election, Stiles was declared the winner by just 18 votes; but there was a recount two days later when the Cleveland County Election Board discovered a box of 60 absentee ballots that hadn't been counted.

After those ballots were counted, Stiles was once again the winner by just 18 votes. Roberts requested another recount, challenging those results.

Roberts has also made allegations of voter irregularities. A judge moved a hearing on that issue to next week.
