STROUD, Oklahoma -
You now have a chance to own part of Route 66 history, with
the Rock Cafe, which first opened in 1939 in Stroud, now up for sale.
Dawn Welch
has owned the cafe for nearly 20 years. She raised her children around the
restaurant.
Welch says after
being a road trip destination for so many along Route 66, she's ready for her
own adventure.
"We all decided
that the next stop for us was to see the world and find new opportunities,"
says Welch, after the making the decision to sell with her kids.
Over the years,
famous musicians like Paul McCartney, Robert Plant and the Zac Brown Band have
stopped by to eat.
Actor Wilford
Brimley once complained that the mashed potatoes were too cold when he visited.
And actresses Gina Davis and Jean Tripplehorn have also stopped by.
Welch is asking $300,000
for the Rock Cafe.
