OKLAHOMA CITY -

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office announced Monday a traffic stop ended with two arrests and the discovery of 500 pounds of marijuana.

The Central Oklahoma Metro Interdiction Team (COMIT) stopped a speeding Chevy pickup truck November 4 at S.W. 25th Street and S. May Avenue. Two men were inside the truck; 20-year-old Cruz Rodriguez and 17-year-old Jose Pena.

Sheriff John Whetsel says both men produced fake Mexican driver's licenses. Deputies could also see several cardboard boxes wrapped in tape sitting in the truck.

"A K9 was called to search the truck and the dog alerted his handler that there were drugs inside the vehicle," said Sheriff Whetsel. "There were a total of six boxes containing 369 packages of marijuana that weighed a total of 492 pounds."

Deputies arrested both Cruz and Rodriguez. They were booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of trafficking a controlled dangerous substance. They're being held on $25,000 bond.
