OKLAHOMA CITY -

A man convicted of four DUIs is now facing the charge of murder in the second degree after police say his latest drunken rampage cost a father of two his life.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office is preparing to present its case against Gregory Clinton Wilson, who has a rap sheet dating back to 1987. Police say Wilson should have never been on the road in the first place.

"[He hit us] head on," the victim's brother Anthony Henry recalled. "[He was] driving on the wrong side of the street … so fast that [you] couldn't do [anything] but just brace."

Henry was in the driver's seat calling out to his brother and nephew immediately following the crash. He could hear his nephew, Najee Walker. However, there was just silence from the back seat where Henry's older brother, Kevin Gilbert, was found dead.

"The police officer came up [to the hospital] and gave me the bad news," Kevin Gilbert's wife Diamane Walker said. "My kids lost their father. I lost a husband."

Police say Kevin Gilbert was killed because of Wilson, who had a blood alcohol content level nearly three times the legal limit. Police say Wilson was driving the wrong way on NE 10th just east of Sunnylane Rd. on the border between Oklahoma City and Del City.

Wilson was driving on a revoked license and had been convicted of at least 10 crimes in the past 25 years, including a list of DUIs.

"Why was he even driving with four DUIs," Diamane Walker asked. "After the first DUI, everybody should be locked up."

Family members say they are happy to be one step closer to justice. As they grieve, they are slowly gaining comfort.

"He is in a better place now," Kevin Gilbert's stepson Najee Walker said.

One message Kevin's 10-year-old daughter wants everyone to know is, "don't drink and drive."

Anthony Henry will need undergo plastic surgery on the right side of his face. He now lives with a rod implant in his leg.

According to court records, Wilson has also been convicted of robbery, concealing stolen property and forgery in separate cases.
