A driver was arrested Sunday after pushing through a police barricade onto the BooHaHa parade route, striking a Tulsa Police officer in the process.

It happened before the 3 p.m. parade.

Police said Peter Haley Williams, 52, pushed through the barricade with his vehicle on 47th Street, where it was blocking off Peoria Avenue for the parade.

A block later, an officer stepped in front of him to try to stop him and the driver didn't stop, striking the officer in the leg and the hand. Police said the officer was not severely injured.

The driver was stopped at 39th Street by motorcycle officers and arrested on complaints of hit and run, assault and battery on a police officer, DUI second offense, running a road block, and other traffic violations.

Police said a drug and alcohol test will be administered and whether he could face further charges will depend on the results of that test.
