NORMAN, Oklahoma -

A Norman couple is alarmed by what they say they found in their mailbox Sunday.

Mariah Kalhor says her husband found a note in their mailbox that read, "Shut The Dog Up. Last Warning."

The couple has two dogs, but they say the dogs stay primarily indoors.

They say the police told them no one has filed complaints against them regarding their dogs. Kalhor says the person who left the note should have found another way to complain.

"Either knock our door or at least post a note on our door. We've never had any kind of warning before, so this last warning was kind of harsh,"Kalhor said.

The note was left in their mailbox, which could be trouble for the person who put it there. Tampering with someone's mail can be prosecuted as a federal offense.
