OKLAHOMA CITY -

A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after jumping out of a moving police cruiser driving east on Interstate 44 near S.W. 29th Street.

Police say Yoni Lopez somehow managed to jump out of a back window Tuesday morning during rush hour. The window was not open at the time, so police are trying to determine how Lopez got out.

When Lopez jumped from the patrol car, he landed on his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

Lopez was originally taken into police custody for trespassing.

The man's escape caused a traffic jam on eastbound I-44 that took several hours to clear up.
