Investigators Search For Answers After Weekend Homicide In NW OKC

Police identified the man found shot to death in an Oklahoma City home this weekend as 42-year old Michael Donnell Rhoades. Investigators are still looking for the gunmen.

Police say the shooting happened in an apparent break-in just before midnight Saturday.

We're told a 3-year old little girl who's related to Michael Rhoades, was also inside the home at the time. Thankfully she wasn't hurt.

Now investigators are trying to figure out what led to the deadly shooting in a quiet metro neighborhood.

Crime scene tape surrounds the home where 42-year old Michael Rhoades was shot and killed.

Just before midnight Saturday, police were called to a shooting at a home in northwest Oklahoma City.

It happened in the 9400 block of Eagle Hill Drive near Britton and Rockwell. Investigators say Rhoades's 21-year old son was upstairs, heard a noise and went to see what happened. That's when he says he found Rhoades had been shot downstairs, and he called police.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears he was inside the residence when suspects forced their way in, shot and killed him, and fled the scene," OKCPD MSgt. Gary Knight said.

Police say there was also a 3-year old little girl inside, but she's okay.

On Monday, a neighbor told us off-camera she heard several gunshots but didn't see anyone leave the house.

She said the shooting came as a shock because crime hasn't been a problem in this quiet neighborhood on the city's northwest side.

Police say that 3-year old girl is staying with relatives now.

Rhoades' death marks the 78th homicide in Oklahoma City this year.
