OKLAHOMA CITY -

The bed bugs are back!

Recently News 9 told you about two apartment complexes with infestations. Now a third complex has turned up as a haven for the disgusting pests. And News 9 has learned that the same person owns all three properties.

News 9 reporter Havonnah Johnson's voicemail box is full with calls with the same complaints from various people, so she did some digging to try and get some answers, but ran in to several roadblocks.

On Oct. 2 at the Westview Apartments nearly a dozen people said they were being eaten alive. Two weeks later, across town, the Silverwood complex was telling same story. Now, on Oct. 19, resident at the Montera apartment complex report the same bed bud debacle.

The owner Sashi Jigani, who lives is California, has not responded to calls from News 9.

Both Silverwood and Westview apartments wrote tenants a letter promising they'd treat the problem. They used clove oil at all three properties. Some residents even got sick, and the bedbugs returned.

News 9 tried to get answers to unravel the problem. Metro Fair Housing didn't return calls. After two days, we called the Community Action Agency who referred us to the Oklahoma City County Health Department, who takes resident complaints, but says it's the owner's responsibility and tenants can contact a housing advocate.

It's a situation that leaves the tenant in the middle. The property managers asked News 9 to leave at each complex, but said they'd fix the problem.

The State considers bed bugs a local ordinance issue, so counties could have different policies. In Oklahoma County, if a landlord owns four or more apartment units, they are responsible for treating the pests.
