The 2012-13 college basketball season doesn't start for nearly a month but Oklahoma State has unfortunately picked up right where it left off last season, getting struck by an injury to a key player.

OSU coach Travis Ford told reporters on Wednesday at Big 12 Media Day that sophomore forward Brian Williams is, "pretty seriously hurt," and he is out of the Cowboy lineup indefinitely.

Williams injured his wrist when he fell hard to the floor in practice earlier this week. Ford and the Cowboy coaching staff is still waiting on more information about the severity of the injury.

Williams was pegged to start for the Cowboys at small forward this season. The Louisiana native averaged 9.6 points and 3.3 rebounds last season, starting 20 games as a redshirt freshman.

Last season the Cowboys dealt with numerous injuries and finished the season without three players who were starters at one point or another. Center Philip Jurick tore his Achilles, forward J.P. Olukemi tore his ACL and Le'Bryan Nash suffered a fracture in his left hand.

Olukemi will likely see his role increased as a result of the injury to Williams but he still isn't completely back from his ACL tear. Olukemi is practicing with the team but still suffers occasional swelling and is dealing with a lingering eligibility issue.
