WARR ACRES, Oklahoma -

A metro family is counting its blessings after a car came crashing into the wall of their toddler son's bedroom Friday morning. Police say a teenage driver was behind the wheel.

The crash happened near N.W. 58th Street and MacArthur around 6:45 a.m. The driver veered off the road, crashed into a vacant house and another home next door, where a 3-year-old boy had been sleeping just moments earlier.

The boy's parents, who asked that we not identify them, said their son had just awakened and left his room.

"We were probably five minutes before we left to take my son to daycare and go to work and just heard a huge explosion," the child's father said.

"I actually thought somebody hit the car, but then later on, we just heard all this crunching and loud noises, and it just freaked us out and scared us," the boy's mother said.

The family soon discovered a car had crashed into the boy's bedroom wall.

"[We] ran outside and there was a young kid getting out of the car who slammed into the house next door into our house," the man said.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. It was a close call for a family expecting another child within days.

"My wife's due any day. She's due the 18th and her doctor said this baby could come any day."

It's a mess to clean up, but the family is thankful it wasn't worse.

"[We're] lucky nobody got hurt," said the husband, "It's all just material stuff, but it is a headache, and it's going to be for a while."

News 9 spoke with the driver's mother Friday. She said her 16-year-old son had taken her to work, and crashed after he fell asleep behind the wheel.

Warr Acres Police did ticket the teen for driving without a license, and reckless driving.
