A man who believes he struck and killed a Broken Arrow bicyclist has turned himself in to the Broken Arrow Police Department.

The man's attorney called News On 6 Friday morning to say his client thought he'd hit an inanimate object and did not realize it was a person until seeing the news.

Broken Arrow police confirm that they are talking to the man in connection to the cyclist's death. No charges have been filed.

"He is cooperating with the investigation and is not in custody at this time," Broken Arrow Corporal Leon Calhoun said in a news release.

"The investigation is on-going and charges will be forwarded to the district attorney's office once completed."

The body of 71-year-old cyclist Earl Teske was discovered in a ditch along 101st Street between 193rd East Avenue and Lynn Lane Wednesday night.

The man had a 4-year-old daughter in a booster seat and may have been distracted, the lawyer said.

The attorney also said the man was at a poker tournament at the Hard Rock Casino for a few hours that night and had had a few beers, but the attorney says his client was not intoxicated.

The man's name is not being released at this time.
