The Oklahoma State women's soccer team lost Friday night to Texas 1-0. The loss is the third Big 12 Conference loss for the Cowgirls.

The loss brings OSU to 10-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in conference action.

"It was a tough loss in a very closely contested game that could have gone either way," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. "We battled hard, and there were a couple of key moments that decided the game. I'm proud of our team's effort but obviously very disappointed we didn't get the result we wanted."

The Cowgirls missed an early opportunity to score when Carson Michalowski's penalty shot hit the crossbar and her rebound shot was saved by UT's goalkeeper Abby Smith.

The Longhorns (6-6-1, 3-0-0) scored the only goal of the game about halfway through the opening half when Hannah Higgins took a pass from Kristin Cummins, dribbled past a defender and sent a low shot past AD Franch to put UT ahead at the 23:32 mark.

The game was statistically even. UT owned a 10-8 advantage on shots, with both teams recording five corner kicks and each goalie making three saves.

The Cowgirls play again Friday when they host Texas Christian.
