Tulsa Police were helping with crowd control at a high school football game near 51st Street North and North Peoria when a shooting took place nearby.

Officers made two arrests and found one shooting victim.

Corporal Dan Miller with the Tulsa Police Department said officers had been asked to help with the McLain Homecoming game when they heard gun fire at about 11:30 p.m.

"Several rounds of high-caliber gunfire erupt just north of the officers," Miller said.

Police saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene and pulled the Nissan Pathfinder over in the 1000 block of East 51st Place North.

They found a loaded AK-47 assault rifle and three young men in the SUV, the officer said.

"The magazine was completely full," Miller said. "The gun had actually a round chambered and ready to go, so it was ready to fire."

There was also a spent casing in the driver's seat.

"As we're taking care of those guys, we get the call of an actual shooting here at the corner of 51st Street North and Peoria," Miller told News On 6.

Ten to 15 rounds had been fired into a house in an apparent drive-by shooting. Officers say there were several people inside and outside the home at the time of the shooting. A 19-year-old girl was shot once in the hip and was taken to the hospital in non-life threatening condition, Miller said.

The three men were detained and questioned about the shooting.

Police say 19-year-old Deonte Raeshaun Smith of Tulsa admitted to firing the assault rifle at the house. The driver, 19-year-old Jarvis Vedahl Prince of Broken Arrow, was also arrested. He said he knew the gun was in the car and that Smith shot the gun out the window at the home, according to the arrest report.

No information was available about the third person in the car.

Smith was booked on five complaints of shooting with intent to kill, shooting a firearm from a vehicle, possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana.

Prince was booked on complaints of shooting a firearm from a vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana and speeding.

Miller said they don't believe the shooting had anything to do with the scene at the McLain football game. Several fights broke out after the game, but no one was arrested.
