A shouting match in the parking lot of a Tulsa convenience store early Saturday morning ended with two men in a car getting shot and Tulsa Police looking for the gunman.

Officers were called to Riverside Drive and 71st Street just before 1:30 a.m. in reference to the shooting.

Police said two men were parked in front of the store, when the suspect walked up to their car, claiming the driver almost ran him over in the parking lot.

"Words were exchanged; shots were fired, and the victims tried to drive away," said Corporal Mark Secrist of the Tulsa Police Department.

The victims didn't make it far.

Police found 37-year-old John White, III, and 18-year-old Kirstjan Hinrik Thorsson inside the car in a church parking lot next door. Police say the suspect shot the men with a pistol, unloading at least nine rounds.

Both men were taken by EMSA to a Tulsa hospital.

Police said the passenger, Thorsson, died at the hospital and the driver, White, remains in critical condition.

Thorsson was a native of Iceland, according to Sveinn Gudmarsson of the National Radio of Iceland.

The disturbance in QuikTrip's parking lot between the pair and a man standing outside the car escalated when the man pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots into the car, according to police.

After the shooting, the man ran away. Police don't believe the men knew each other.

The shooter is described as a black man, between 5-foot-7 and 5-10, about 140 to 150 pounds with braided hair and between the age of 18 and 24-years-old.

He was wearing a red ball cap, a red shirt and blue jeans. Police said he possibly was wearing plastic framed glasses and has a goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
