My 2 Cents: Convicted Murderer In Pharmacy Shooting Death Now Free

Posted: Updated:

It must be a really tough night to be Oklahoma prison inmate #64-10-06. I'm sure he must be sitting in his cell at Joseph Harp Correctional Center in Lexington thinking, "how did it all turn out this way?"

Fourteen months ago Pharmacist Jerome Ersland forfeited his street clothes for an orange prison jumpsuit and had his head shaved to begin serving the rest of his life in prison.

He shot one of two teenagers who tried to rob his pharmacy, then went back and shot the one he wounded several more times.

A jury found him guilty of first degree murder.

But tonight, the 14 year kid/robber waiving the gun at Ersland in a threatening manner, maybe pulling the trigger, says he doesn't really remember for sure, is free and making plans for his future.

Jevontai Ingram, convicted of first degree murder just like Ersland, has been freed from juvenile detention after serving less than three years.

Ingram, now 18, says he has no sympathy for Ersland, that he deserves more than he got. Did he learn nothing over the last 3 years?

If he hadn't gone into that pharmacy to rob it, his young friend would still be alive, and Ersland would be living his life running his pharmacy.

Twisted justice...
