CANADIAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the South Canadian River Bridge were shut down for more than seven hours after a semi-truck caught on fire Monday morning.

The semi caught on fire just before 9 a.m. Monday. According to emergency crews, the trailer of the semi melted. The debris got all over the street and the river banks, and caught on fire again.

Authorities shut down the eastbound lanes of I-40 between the 104 and 105 mile markers on the South Canadian River Bridge as crews clean up after the blaze. The road reopened just after 3:30 p.m.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation was also called in to help clean up the debris.

Meanwhile, officials say some drivers on I-40 became impatient and crossed the median, that's when another two-vehicle collision happened just off the old US 66.

Traffic backed up even more following that crash, according to officials.
