Gas Prices Higher This Labor Day Than Last Year

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Gas prices are the highest they have ever been for a Labor Day weekend.

Nationally, gas prices are above $3.80 per gallon, nearly 20 cents more than this time last year. Six states are pushing $4.00 a gallon. California has the highest prices in the nation at $4.15

Officials expect prices to start dropping this month as the refineries come back online and the peak summer driving season winds down.

According to gasbuddy.com the average cost right now for a gallon of gas in the state of Oklahoma is $3.63. The average for the Oklahoma City metro area is just a penny higher at $3.64.
