Agents Spot Marijuana Fields In Eastern Oklahoma From The Air

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs is busy cracking down on marijuana growing operations across eastern Oklahoma.

In order to cover more ground, OBN has taken to the sky, using its helicopters to search for pot plants hidden in fields and wooded areas.

OBN Darrell Weaver says agents can tell when they've found a pot-growing operation because of a difference in the plant color. 

He says the extra effort by his officers this summer has been impressive.

"The largest marijuana operation we've ever done, cultivated - was around 9,000 plants a couple of weeks ago. North of Ada. 9,000 plants," said Darrell Weaver.

He says OBN plans to cover a lot of ground in eastern Oklahoma in the next week or two, because late August and early September is the peak growing season for marijuana.
