Police Investigate Bomb Threats At Theaters In 5 Oklahoma Cities

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police in Shawnee, Stillwater, Cushing, Lawton and Ponca City are investigating a bomb threat against Carmike Cinemas.

Someone called the corporate office of Carmike Cinemas in Columbus, Georgia. The person left a voicemail saying bombs had been placed at different locations. Friday morning, Carmike theaters in Shawnee, Stillwater, and Ponca City contacted their local police departments, advising officers the business had been threatened.

Police in Stillwater say it's a "low credibility" phone call, but officers swept the area just in case. Shawnee, Cushing and Ponca City police officers have cleared all Carmike Cinemas in their cities, and the theaters are open for business.

Carmike Cinemas has movie theatres in Ardmore, Cushing, Duncan, Lawton, Muskogee, Ponca City, Shawnee and Stillwater.  Nationwide, the chain has 236 theaters in 35 states.
