TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma -

Tahlequah Police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the discovery of two bodies in a home in the 100 block of Lou Ellen Street.

Police were called to the home at about 9 p.m. Wednesday to do a welfare check.  After gaining entry into the home, officers found a man and a woman dead.

Family members identified the victims as Jessie Catron, who they say was in his late 60s, and his niece, 48-year-old Angela Finley.

The OSBI was called in to assist with processing the scene and to assist with the investigation.

Police are not saying much about the case only that they do have some people who are considered persons of interest.

Meanwhile, the victims' families are trying to come to grips with what happened.

Family members, Robin Catron and Frank Sanders, said they were having a hard time taking things in Thursday morning.

"Still in that dream, I guess, hoping I can wake up," Sanders said.

They said Finley lived in the home and Jessie Catron would often visit.

Robin Catron is Jessie's brother and Finley's uncle.

He affectionately called his brother "Monk," because Jessie loved to climb trees when he was younger.

He said Jessie was a Vietnam veteran, survivor of colon cancer, and the life of the party.

"I want them to find the people, put them where they belong," Robin said. "I know I love him, I loved my brother. I come up here all the time to see him, didn't come up here this time to see him dead."

Family members asked police to check on Finley early Wednesday evening, but found nothing unusual.

Later in the night, family members peered under the back door and saw what appeared to be bodies lying on the floor.

OSBI said it's a clear case of a double murder.

The family said Jessie Catron and Angela Finley suffered major wounds, including significant cuts to their faces.

OSBI said they are closing in on a suspect.

"There have been persons of interest, who have been interviewed already," said Marty Wilson with the OSBI. "There are some other persons of interest, who we are definitely interested in talking to that we, as of yet, have been unable to locate."

OSBI is not saying anything about the persons of interest, but they emphasized that this was not a random act.
