McCURTAIN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Crews are searching for the body of a man believed to have drowned in Broken Bow Lake in McCurtain County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 29-year-old Calvin Dewayne Straughter of Allen, Texas, jumped out of a boat to swim on August 11. Witnesses told troopers he began to struggle in the water.

The occupants on the boat threw a life jacket to Straughter, but he was not able to grab it. Others tried to swim to Straughter, but they weren't able to reach him in time.

Straughter's body has not been recovered.
