OKLAHOMA CITY -

Strong thunderstorms are bringing much-needed rain to parts of southern Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for about a dozen counties in the area until late Sunday.

Severe storms dropped quarter-size to baseball-size hail on several counties, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Thunderstorm chances will continue mainly for southeast Oklahoma on Monday and then increase later in the week as a storm system and a cold front move through the state.

Forecasters say the wildfire danger will remain high because of the state's significant drought conditions and because of increased winds ahead of the approaching storm system.
