TULSA, Oklahoma -

Some thieves broke into a Tulsa house Thursday morning and, along with the usual items, like a TV, jewelry, they also took an urn containing the ashes of the homeowner's dead son.

Now, he is desperate to get back the urn, which he said is his last connection to his middle child.

James Gordon sounded like most burglary victims Friday, outraged and feeling violated that someone came into his home and took his things.

James Gordon: "They stole the television. We had a 24 by 36 made to match these, they took that, they stole three albums."
News on 6 reporter Lori Fullbright: "Off the wall."
James Gordon: "Yeah."

They also made off with his wife's late mother's anniversary ring, bagpipes, bottles of wine, but as Gordon was making the list, he realized they had taken something far more valuable than any other possession.

"When I realized they'd taken my son's urn with his ashes, nothing else mattered. I do not care. I just want that back," Gordon said.

Gordon's middle son, Dustin was only 18 years old when he died about six years ago.

His urn, made of blue glass and silver, was sitting on a shelf with a framed postcard and antique clock. The thieves just grabbed everything on it and took off.

"In my mind, they just came in and went swoop and have no clue what they took," Gordon said.

Gordon put a sign in his front yard as a way to let the thieves know what they have and that he wants it back.

He is also going to notify area pawn shops.

Everything else he lost is just stuff, but he will be devastated to lose Dustin's ashes, the last thing he has of his son.

"If they drive by at 2:30 in the morning and sit it on my porch and go away, cool. I'm happy with that. I just want my son back," Gordon said.

Again, the urn is about the size of a football and is made of blue glass with silver trim.

If anyone sees it, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS to get it back where it belongs.
