Ford Names A Trio Of Cowboy Captains

Posted: Updated:

Prior to the start of their freshman season in 2010-11, youngsters Michael Cobbins, Markel Brown and Brian Williams made their presence known with a popular YouTube video where they gave an entertaining tour of the Cowboys' new locker rooms.

Only Brown played that season while Cobbins and Williams redshirted. All three came together and provided signs of promise and a future as OSU labored through a disappointing 2011-12 campaign.

Now all three are being mentioned in the same sentence again – as captains.

The Cowboys, who are on their way to Spain for a 10-day international tour, are expected to be vastly improved this coming season and coach Travis Ford announced that Brown, Cobbins and Williams will share the responsibility of the leadership to make it happen.

As a sophomore, Brown averaged 10.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Williams came on strong at the beginning of conference play and ended up averaging 9.6 points and 3.3 rebounds while Cobbins averaged 5 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds.
