Kilpatrick Turnpike Reopens Following Fatal Crash

OKLAHOMA CITY -

A two-car crash shut down part of northbound Kilpatrick Turnpike at Wilshire Blvd. for a few hours Wednesday morning.

The fatal accident occurred before 8 a.m. Wednesday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) says a driver was heading southbound but crossed the median into the northbound lanes of the Kilpatrick Turnpike. The car plowed head-on into an SUV.

The driver of the car that crossed the median was killed. The person's name has not been released. The condition of the other driver is not known.

Traffic on the turnpike is being diverted onto Wilshire while troopers investigate the accident and clean up the wreckage.

The turnpike reopened around 9:30 a.m.
