Former OSU star Brandon Weeden was named the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns by head coach Pat Shurmur on Monday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Oklahoma City native set many school records in his time in Stillwater, including becoming OSU's all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.

Weeden, who was selected 22nd overall in the NFL Draft, will start Friday against Detroit in the Browns' preseason opener.

The Browns open the regular season September 9 at home against Philadelphia.
