Posted: Updated:
NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Add another Sooner to a preseason football watch list. Oklahoma defensive end R.J. Washington was named to the 2012 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award preseason watch list by the Ted Hendricks Foundation on Monday.

Washington owns 23 tackles, 5.5 sacks and five pass breakups for his career. The Fort Worth, Texas, native earned playing time in all 13 games for Oklahoma in 2012, while playing behind All-Big 12 ends Frank Alexander and Ronnell Lewis, both of whom are now on NFL rosters.

The Ted Hendricks Award Watch List includes 40 of the top defensive ends in the nation, including six players from the Big 12, heading into the 2012 season. The winner will be announced on Dec. 5.

Eleven Sooners have now been mentioned 24 times on 14 different 2012 preseason watch lists.
