San Francisco is undertaking a study that will consider the feasibility of a mileage tax. Putting GPS monitors in motorists' vehicles and charging them, like a nickel or a dime per mile they drive. To me it sounds just ridiculous enough to happen.
Jarred writes: "Your 2 cents is a waste of air time. Why not use the 2 minutes or so of your segment to promote Oklahoma and its people?"
Amanda from Perry: "Putting GPS in our vehicles so the government can track how much we travel is just another step to a communist country."
Patrick says: "No way. Where I go and how much I drive is no one's business but mine."
Nancy from Enid: "It makes a lot of sense - pay for what you use."
Brenda from Fairview: "Are you kidding me? What about the people who live in remote places?"
Chad from Choctaw asks: "Why don't they just make everyone report their mileage every year when they renew their tag?"
Steve in Covington: "What about walking on the road? Is the government going to monitor me for that also?"
Finally, John from Wellston writes: "Check with Gary about the date he predicts hell will freeze over because that's when any government will put a GPS in my personal vehicle!"
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
