Missing 85-Year-Old Mayes County Man Found Dead In Texas

A missing elderly Adair man was found dead Wednesday morning in his car near Sherman, Texas. The Mayes County Sheriff's Office say Ralph Smith was last seen Tuesday afternoon.

Security video at Adair Public Schools showed Smith driving a maroon 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis when he disappeared.

Mayes County Sheriff Frank Cantey located Smith's car crashed beside a road in Grayson County, outside Sherman, Texas at about 8:30 a.m.

They say it appeared Smith had been dead for several hours.

It is unknown at this time why he was there.

Cantley says Smith was in the early stages of Alzheimer's and was originally thought to be visiting his wife at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

The family became concerned and notified authorities Tuesday afternoon.
