Oklahoma City is suffering through triple digit heat and one family is doing it without A/C.

Deandra James lives at the summit ridge apartments and is hoping for some relief. She and her 14-month-old son have been sweating it out for more than 4 months. The last straw came when her baby developed a heat rash.

"It's hot. Oklahoma weather is hot. It's over 100 degrees and it's supposed to be over 100 degrees the next few days and we are without A/C," James said.

That has been James' complaint for the past four months.

"I've wrote six letters to her and to the operating company," said James.

James has even invested her money into the Summit Ridge Apartments.

"I had two put in one [window a/c unit] in my room and one in my sis room. And those don't completely cool the upstairs," said James.

That investment tripled her electric bill. And as if that wasn't enough, her son developed a heat rash.

"He had them on his cheeks and his back. I was infuriated. And I told the lady in the office ‘He is getting heat rash. You need to do something about this.'" said James.

The property replaced the A/C unit, but that replacement only lasted 24 hours.

"I've left plenty of messages. She doesn't call me back. Why are you treating tenants this way when we pay our rent?" said James.

So News 9 went to ask the property manager, but they did not want to talk with us.

James' lease is up next month. She says she likes her apartment, but just wants them to fix the issues and pay a part of her escalated electricity bill
